Youth Hunt Success at Van Riper Hunting Camp

The Wisconsin Youth gun hunt went very well at the Van Riper Hunting Camp this year. My son Spencer was fortunate enough to connect on his first deer. Well the golf season is almost over and one of the only things on my mind now is getting out in the deer woods and feeling the rush again. Food Plot Success during the drought
This year the Midwest has seen the one of the worst droughts in recent history. The farmers are in desperate need of crop assistance. The corn and beans in Southern Wisconsin and Mid Iowa and Central Illinois look absolutely pitiful to say the least. Ponds all around our area are drying at an alarming rate. It's really sad to see.

This is a first for us at the Van Riper Camp. We are taking Three young youth hunters out at Camp for the Mentor Turkey Hunt this coming weekend. 2011 Wisconsin Bow Hunting Opener was a fun kickoff to a great upcoming season! The weather was absolutely perfect ahead of a slow moving rainy weather front. The deer were definitely on the move. We encountered multiple scrapes and rubs. My son witnessed a little play rattling between an 11 pt. and an 8 pt.
